ORIGIN OF ÑERI
The word ñeri was born from the Italianization of the word companion , by Italian migrants to the southern region of Latin America at the beginning of the 20th century. Especially, it is used in the context of the villas, and is usually used as a friend, acquaintance or person whose name is unknown.
Originally it is about the apheresis of the word companion and for that reason its main use is as “ñero”. However, in some rare contexts it can be used in this way to identify a slum person who uses drugs and speaks in an unpleasant manner.
